[Moving. 10] Meera did much better on her exams than anyone expected. Time for A-levels had come and she had received high marks on every one. While the other students had been living in the library and studying every free minute, she'd just come home, studied for an hour each night, and then come to spend time with her sister and coach her through math homework. The envelope came in the post a week after the exams. Their uncle called Meera into the drawing room one evening before tea, in his deep and imposing voice. She slipped quietly in. His usual stern scowl was gone. He silently handed her the envelope. It was heavy, with stiff linen paper. The seal on the back was broken, but the logo was impossible to mistake. The words "Royal Academy of Sciences" were neatly laid across the seal. She hesitantly pulled the sheet of paper out and read it. Her uncle's eyebrow twitched and she thought she saw approval on his face. As she saw the words "A full scholarship to the college of Biology" in elegant type on the page, she felt her face flush, and her uncle gave her a rare smile. "I suppose this means you'll be moving into the college after summer." Meera was silent, realizing that she'd be away from her sister and her only family. Sama looked into the room, and saw the smile on her uncle's face. "What's this?" "Your sister has gotten high marks and asked to attend the Royal Academy of Sciences"
